Travis tried to raise some kind of power to stop what was happening. But he was too deadened to have any effect. The drug Smith had given Olivia had done its work. With a leaden feeling of defeat, he watched while she was secured to a stretcher, then followed along as the men wheeled her

Travis knew something was wrong. First, there was the muzzy feeling in his head. It shouldn’t be there. He had no body, no physical brain that was failing to function. Still, he had to fight for coherent thoughts. The only firm idea that stuck in his mind was that Olivia was in danger. Fear and

Gabe briefly considered shooting it out with the bad guys. But no telling how many of them were in those two vehicles, since the windows were tinted. And no telling who else might get hurt. Looking left and right, Gabe saw there was maybe enough leeway between the creek and the house whose property abutted

Olivia watched the man under attack check to see if the car doors were locked. They were, but that didn’t make any difference to Travis. He pulled the driver’s door open and bent inside, pressing himself against the hapless Pete, turning the tables on him. He’d kidnapped Travis, but he was now the captive. Olivia

“Let’s find out,” Gabe suggested. “Okay.” Olivia felt Travis step a few feet away. She saw him, but more dimly than he’d been manifesting to her before their crazy transformation. Harold Goddard, alias Mr. Smith, had sent men to watch Carson’s house and the entrance to the marina where he kept his boat. The watcher at the residence had noted that the same car had driven past a couple of times. The guy had been able to snap a photograph of the driver. He looked

From his position behind a tree, Gabe surveyed what he could only think of as the Langston estate. There was a wide lawn leading down a gentle slope to a wood lot that gave him cover. The house occupying pride of place at the top of the hill was probably a couple of hundred years

Olivia yanked open the van’s door and then slammed it shut, making sure to click the locks. The man who had accosted her on the pier had to jump out of the way as she started the engine and barreled out of the parking lot. When she looked behind her, she saw him standing next

“Ms. Langston?” a voice asked. “Yes.” “This is Sarah Riley from Unique Interiors.” The name of the shop was like a stab to Olivia’s chest. She’d been so caught up with her unknown ghost and then with Travis that she’d completely forgotten about her business obligations. “What happened?” The voice on the phone went on.
