Chapter

Eventually, they separated and decided that they needed to start talking business rather than personal. Cayden moved to the other side of Trix’s desk. She wasn’t sure she liked the space between them, but knew they’d never get anything done without it there.
She had to admit, in the four hours he’d been working in her office while she’d been downstairs in the bay, he’d gotten a lot of work done. He’d even hand-drawn a floor plan of her entire building as well as the property layout outside. For a guy who’d only just started, he had a pretty good eye. There were one or two places she was genuinely shocked he knew about. She thought she was the only one who knew about them, and that was because of her history with the building.
He pointed out camera blind spots as well as the building’s point of entry weaknesses. Doors were easily reinforced. He pointed out to her that people rarely think about fortifying the walls too because it’s engrained into their heads that people can’t walk through walls.
He informed her that he planned to research security companies for her with the level of expertise he wanted for her. “It’ll be interesting working with a security company instead of against them,” he said with a chuckle.
They fell into an easy routine throughout the week. Trixie would work down in the bay until lunch time, giving Cayden access to her computer and office space to spread out. Then they would eat lunch in her office. Trixie had a standing order with the deli down the street, who delivered sandwiches, potato salad, coleslaw, and chips each day for the employees’ lunch hour. She would grab each of them a plate and then journey up to her office to eat with him.
Trixie almost changed her mind about sleeping with him after learning on Tuesday that Cayden didn’t like pickles. Almost. His wickedly talented tongue changed her mind, and it had nothing to do with his lame excuse as to why he didn’t like pickles.
“If I want to eat a cucumber, I’ll eat a damn cucumber. You can’t put juice on it, give it a different name, and expect me to eat it.”
She also discovered he could draw. Like really well, enviously well. She could barely make a straight line. On one of the deli’s napkins, he gave her a sketch of her own face in blue ink. It was breathtaking. He’d even made her drawn eyes sparkle. Trixie was careful to keep it safe until she was able to laminate it later that afternoon.
Each afternoon they would go over his plans. He took her on several field trips and even on a journey through her air ducts. From the vent above Joey’s office, they made ghost noises until Trixie’s assistant went running, terrified, out of the room. He had yet to forgive them and demanded that Trixie replace the underwear he claimed to have soiled.
Trixie couldn’t believe how easy it was to be with Cayden. By Thursday, they had three consultation appointments scheduled with different security companies for the following week. Cayden told her his weekend homework was to study each company until he knew their tactics by heart and then try to stump them the following week.
She was crazy enough to be looking forward to seeing that.
No matter what each of them was doing come five-thirty, they made sure to find each other to say goodnight. A part of her felt like she was back in high school, having to chase her boyfriend down to get a kiss before his dad picked him up. Mind, her boyfriend was exceedingly hot and smart, not to mention cocky, but also extremely sweet and generous. She’d seen him talking with multiple employees throughout the week, getting to know each one. He still hung in the back during the staff meetings, and always seemed to be walking in or out of the room with a different person. She did not like the way Victoria and Trinity seemed to giggle when he was around.
On Friday, Terrance called out sick. Trixie was in the process of trying to find a way to split his schedule amongst the rest of the mechanics, including herself, when Cayden volunteered to fill in. She was nervous at first, unsure if his skills were as good as he claimed.
She should have known they’d be better. He switched out a battery, changed the oil, and completed a tire rotation test faster than she had ever seen Jeff do in her twenty years of working with him. Then he had the nerve to smile at her and say, “Told you so.”
Cocky bastard.
He finished Terrance’s entire day’s schedule by the lunch hour. So, he helped Jeff, Will, and Gary with theirs so they could get out of there early to enjoy the weekend.
Trixie suspected he just wanted them gone so the two of them could make out like teenagers in her office until Greg came to pick him up. It was a trade she was willing to make.
He gave her his cell phone number and, with a girly “Call me”, left her on her own for the weekend.
She missed him something terrible. Their text messages and phone calls weren’t enough. She wanted to feel him pressed up against her. She wanted him to hold her, touch her, kiss her… He invited her to Sunday dinner again, but, as much as she wanted to go, she declined. She hadn’t been to Greg and Peggy’s in a long time before two Sundays ago. She didn’t want to make her sudden reappearance suspicious. They already believed something was going on between her and Cayden, and she wasn’t ready to have their suspicions confirmed.
He said he understood, but she could tell he was disappointed.
Trixie was awake before the sun Monday morning. She was showered and dressed by six. She was surprised to hear her phone ding so early, but that was only replaced with joy when she saw his name across her screen. Her heart started racing like a butterfly when she read his message about impatiently waiting for “Mr. Wynn” to take him to work.
This message was quickly followed by another about the irony about being excited to go to work.
While Trixie knew she was a big part of that anticipation, she also had a feeling that he was enjoying the work itself. Cayden fit at Romero’s. Maybe it was too soon, it had only been a week, but she could see him staying here after his parole.
This made her worry, though, because while he had made it clear he was staying in the area with her, he hadn’t specified anything about working for her beyond his term. She quickly pushed that thought aside. It was far too soon to be questioning or even thinking about such things.
Her door slammed open at seven-fifteen. And there he was. She practically leaped over her desk to get to him. Their lips collided, their teeth clashing. Neither seemed to care. Cayden kicked her door shut as he picked her up and carried her to her desk. She really needed to think about getting a couch or a more comfortable chair in her office if this was going to become a habit for them.
She’d order one later.
Or they could just journey down the hall to her makeshift apartment. It was small, but she didn’t need much. Trixie, though, wanted to save her apartment for their weekend when he’d promised to wine and dine her before making love to her.
She wasn’t sure who succeeded in getting his shirt off of him. His gray Henley hit the floor by his feet. Her tank was pushed up, exposing her breasts to his wandering mouth. She tried to get to his pants, but he knocked her hands away. Somehow Trixie found herself splayed back on her desk with her right nipple in his mouth and his hand down her pants.
His sinful mouth and magic fingers worked in tandem until she broke apart under him. She bit into the skin on his shoulder, not wanting to risk anyone overhearing their activity within her office. Thankfully she didn’t break the skin. The act felt primal, though, like she was marking her mate.
As they both fought to catch their breath, Cayden nibbled on her throat under her left ear. It took her a moment to realize he’d spoken.
“What?” she managed to say.
“I said ‘sorry’.”
“What the hell are you apologizing for?” He’d just given her the best orgasm of her life. Mind, she highly doubted high school boyfriend, Randy Wheats, had managed to give her an orgasm during their drunken escapade. It was still a hell of a lot better than she’d ever accomplished on her own.
“I hit your hand away when you went for my pants.” He licked over her sensitive nipple, drawing a shiver from her. “I knew if I got out of my pants, I’d be inside you, and I promised you your first time wouldn’t be across your desk.”
She couldn’t help smiling. “You’re forgiven.”
He lifted his head, kissing her lips. “I missed you.”
Her smile widened. “I missed you, too.”
He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper. “This is the form you need to fill out so we can get our weekend together.”
She gulped, accepting the paper. That form would go back to the Wynns. Damn, they might as well post it up on a billboard that they were going to be having sex this weekend.
“Easy, baby.” He ducked his head to press his lips to her collarbone. “I figured if you weren’t comfortable joining us for Sunday dinner, you certainly wouldn’t be comfortable with a weekend pass expressing our romantic plans. Fill it out as my boss, not my girlfriend. Give some bullshit excuse about needing to work the weekend and staying over is just more convenient for the hours we need to work. Mind, it means I can’t come in for two days next week because I’m not allowed to work more than forty hours in a week, but it’ll get us two nights overnight. Mr. and Mrs. Wynn will likely suspect what we’re doing, but at least we won’t be confirming it. Or,” he nipped her ear, “put down that it’s a weekend pass away from the house so I get to come in next week to work.”
She didn’t like either option, but man she wanted their weekend together. “I picked up condoms from the pharmacy.”
He stilled, lifting his head. “You didn’t have to do that. I have some.”
“Well,” she said shyly, “now we have more.”
Cayden’s smile was magnifying. “No quantity will ever be enough. I’ll always want more of you.”
Damn if that announcement didn’t make her feel like a precious gem. She caught sight of the clock over his head. “We should make ourselves presentable. Everyone will be here soon.”
He stood up off of her, helping her off the desk before he bent to pick up his shirt. “Trix?”
She looked up from righting her tank. Her jeans were still unbuttoned and unzippered. “Yeah?”
“Does that mean you’re not on birth control?”
She shook her head, not meeting his eyes. “Never needed to be. I’m pretty regular and, while annoying, it’s never really been inconvenient.” She blushed. She’d never talked about her period with another person except for Peggy. “So I just never bothered.”
He forced her to look at him. He didn’t seem uncomfortable about the topic of conversation. “I’m fine with using condoms. I’ve never had sex without them, even if the girl claimed to be clean and protected.”
“I can look into it.” Why did she sound winded?
Cayden leaned down and kissed her thoroughly before lifting his head. “I didn’t ask to pressure you into starting. Believe me, I would like nothing more than to be inside you with no barriers.” She expected her cheeks to redden at his graphic wording, but instead she felt a different sort of heat. “But not until you’re ready. We have time. There’s absolutely no rush. I plan to wine and dine you, and then make love to you all weekend long.”
She met his mismatched eyes. “I’d like that.”
“Good,” he dropped another kiss to her lips. “Now, we really should get going. Your pants being open with those sexy lace panties on display is not doing anything to lessen this hard-on.”
She quickly did up her pants. She was across the room at her cabinet before it occurred to her what he’d said. Trixie rounded on him. He was waiting for her by the door. “You didn’t come,” she exclaimed like this thought only just occurred to her.
He raised an eyebrow and shook his head. “Despite my dick threatening mutiny, I’m not coming until I get inside your delicious pussy.”
Delicious? That was an odd word to use.
He must have noticed her reaction because he put his hand to his mouth and licked his fingers. “Delicious,” he repeated.
Her eyes widened. That was the hand he’d used when he’d pushed his fingers inside her. He was licking her. She knew that was a thing. She knew that men went down on women too. She was not a stranger to certain porn sites. It was just completely different to have a man licking her off his fingers than to watch a man she’d never met on her laptop screen do it.
Realizing she was frozen in place, he came over and dressed her in her coveralls. Then he pushed her from her office. It wasn’t until he placed a coffee mug in her hand and forced her to sip that she snapped out of her shock.
Friday could not come fast enough. His balls had surpassed blue and were approaching a deep shade of plum. He couldn’t seem to get his dick to go down, and it didn’t help that this week was the interviews with the security companies, which meant Trixie and he were practically glued at the hip. He borrowed one of Mr. Wynn’s suit jackets for the interviews. Trixie wore her coveralls, either all the way up or with the top wrapped around her waist. She thankfully put on a t-shirt if she was wearing them around her waist. Cayden didn’t think he could have concentrated if she’d been wearing one of those skimpy tanks. And he would have killed the consultants if he caught them staring at her perfect tits.
Tasting her on Monday had been a mistake. No matter what he ate or drank that week, he couldn’t get her taste from his mouth. He wanted more. He wanted it all. His brain had to keep reminding himself that she deserved to be wined and dined, but his dick kept arguing his need to be inside her now. By Thursday, he still hadn’t figured out who was winning the war. His damn dick was wearing a devil’s costume on his left shoulder with his brain donning a halo on his right. The war was driving him mad.
All Thursday he kept repeating the word tomorrow in his head. He’d get her tomorrow. She’d filled out the paperwork, and to his shock and joy, had put down the reason for his furlough to be personal. He wondered if that was her way of letting the Wynns know about them or if she had had a separate conversation. Regardless, it was as good as telling her parents she was dating someone. He’d take it.
Tomorrow, just one more day.
More than one person had commented that he was distracted on Thursday. He just laughed it off and told them he had a hot date Friday night.
Then finally, Friday was here. He brought his weekend bag to work with him that morning. He expected Mr. Wynn to give him a sex talk or threaten him with making his body disappear again, but the man just smiled at Cayden and told him to enjoy his weekend.
I plan to, had been his silent response.
The security company they had decided to go with was called Lorenzo and Sons. Cayden had come across an L and S product before. They were a good and honest family company. They would be installing most of their security system the following Monday. They’d offered to come over the weekend, but Trixie and Cayden had both shot down that offer fast.
So far all they had done was upgrade the keypad locks. Cayden, Trixie, and Jeff were the only ones with access. Part of Cayden’s responsibilities today was to get the rest of the employees set up with their individual access. The keypad required a six-digit code plus a fingerprint to gain entry. The janitorial staff would be instructed to wipe the pads down during their cleaning sweeps so that someone couldn’t use a previously used print to gain access.
Though Cayden knew that Trixie viewed the cars as the priority, his was her. If it was a choice between Trixie and a Lamborghini Veneno worth four mil, it would be Trixie every time. That woman owned his soul, and he had a feeling she knew it. All she had to do was smile, and he would lay the world at her feet.
She wasn’t in her office when he entered. That surprised him. He placed his bag in the back corner, so it was blocked by her desk. No sense in making it easy for someone to spot and make assumptions. Trixie might be fine with the Wynns knowing about them, but certainly not her employees.
He was closing her door as she came through the door from the stairs. She looked winded, like she ran up them. He looked her over. “You okay?”
She nodded. “Just an early appointment.”
He looked down at his watch. “It’s seven-thirty in the morning. What the hell is open at this time?”
She shot him a wicked grin over her shoulder as she entered her office. “You’ll find out later.”
Fucking hell. He was not going to survive the day. “You’re killing me, woman.”
She went to her cabinet in the back to grab out a pair of coveralls. “Not yet, but I plan to ride you to an early grave tonight.”
Cayden let out a mixture of a groan and a moan. Where was his shy virgin? She’d turned into a seductress overnight. Not that he minded. He liked the idea of dying from an orgasmic explosion while she rode him.
As she passed him, she raised herself up slightly to kiss him. “Ten hours. Are you going to make it?”
He shook his head. “That desk has been looking more and more appealing every day.”
His Trix let out a low laugh. “You promised not to fuck me on it for my first time. You never said anything about the second time.”
His head fell back against the wall, hard. Ten hours. No, he was not going to make it. He watched her add a little extra wiggle to her hips as she hiked up her coveralls, and then gave him a wicked smile that confirmed she knew exactly what she was doing.
She patted his cheek on the way out the door. “Nine hours and fifty-nine minutes.”
He grabbed her ass as she made to type in the code to the stair doorway. Lowering his mouth down to her ear, he vowed, “You keep this up and the only wine and dining option will be a pizza delivery and that bottle of grape juice in the back of your office fridge.”
She opened the door and indicated for him to go through with her head. “I like meat lovers.”
Damn, he’d walked into that one.
